Mark & Olivia

We captured these photos for Mark and Olivia to use on their holiday cards when Mark was home for a visit mid-deployment.  You’d never guess that it was horribly overcast and even sprinkling on us for much of the shoot!  M & O were so sweet and the pups were extremely well behaved.  I feel like I always have such great looking clients and these two were no exception!  Olivia was great in the wardrobe department and brought the most perfectly coordinating blanket.  And seriously… her hair is so gorgeous!

Olivia has a great blog she has kept in Mark’s absence.  Reading it has made me laugh and cry at times.  Definitely check it out!

Here is day 1 of her blog and day 199 featuring the awesome holiday cards Olivia made with their photos can be found here.

Thanks for letting me a be a teeny part of the story, guys.  <3

Max – Brand New

I got to photograph Max in his home when he was just a few days old!  His grandma was still in town so I was able to take a few photos of her with Max before she had to fly back to Oklahoma.  The photos of Max, his mommy and his grandma are some of my absolute favorite images and I know they will be cherished for many, many years.

Here are some of my favorites from Max’s newborn session.  It was so hard to narrow them down!

The Birth of Eleanor

I was so lucky to meet this sweet mama through a mutual friend less than a month before her due date.  We started talking and quickly realized that she wanted a birth photographer and I was one!  I was already booked for two births around the same time as her due date but since she lives just minutes from me and  she was planning a home birth we agreed that we would play it by ear.  She would call me when she was in labor and if I wasn’t at another birth I would come.

The day Eleanor was born we were both at our friend’s son’s birthday party.  Erin had been feeling that something was going on and eventually decided to walk home from the party to see if she could get things moving.  It worked!  There was less than an hour between the time I arrived at Erin’s home and when Eleanor was born.  This amazing mama worked so hard and was so strong and beautiful as she brought her fourth baby into the world.  It was such an honor to witness and capture the day.  And it was so much fun watching Eleanor’s older siblings welcome her into the family.

God couldn’t have given this sweet baby girl to a better family!  They are just the sweetest people and the love between them all is so apparent.

Mandi - Stunning. What a beautiful way to remember such blessing.

The Birth of Max

On September 5, 2014, after spending nearly 30 hours at the hospital with one of my dearest friends, I was honored to meet one of the sweetest and most beautiful babies I have ever laid eyes on.

Max’s sweet mama labored for DAYS and met every obstacle with grace, strength and an open mind. She trusted herself and her wonderful husband, her team and her God.

There were highs and lows, smiles and tears and many, many prayers. In the end the only thing that mattered to Mary was that she had a healthy and perfect little guy.

I love the fact that Mary labored in the same room I birthed Gideon in in 2013!  Although Mary ended up birthing darling Max via C-section their story is every bit as beautiful and remarkable as any I’ve had the privilege to capture or see elsewhere.

I know these memories are so, so treasured.  Mary even has a few canvases hung in her home from this day.

I’ve heard many times from moms who are birthing via scheduled or repeat cesarean (or even induction!) that they don’t think there is a point to hiring a birth photographer.  For Max’s birth I was not allowed in the OR and they wouldn’t even let dad take in my camera, or any other.  I hope this story conveys that even though Max’s first breath wasn’t photographed, the memories leading up to it and immediately following it are absolutely priceless!

Mary Dever - Words cannot express how grateful I am for these photos! None of us planned on me having to have a c-section, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who wishes they would have allowed a camera in the OR. However, the photos Danna took during the LONG labor process and the first photos she caught of our Max, are the most precious photos I’ve EVER possessed!! I am so thrilled with what she captured. Thank you, Stumberg Photography.

Mary and Roger – Expecting

This photo shoot has been highly anticipated!  My dear friend Mary and her husband, Roger, have been waiting for quite some time to become parents.  As soon as Mary discovered she was having a boy (see their gender reveal photos here!) she knew his name would be Max and that his room would be Where the Wild Things Are themed.  This weekend I had the pleasure of co-hosting her Where the Wild Things Are baby shower.  Now that the maternity photos and shower are over it’s time to relax and wait!  I cannot wait to meet this baby next month and photograph his birth!  It will be an amazing experience to finally see the little boy who has been so desired!  Here are my favorites from their maternity shoot on Fort Meade with some baby shower photos near the end.  Enjoy!

(That’s me on the right!)
